Subject: Non-tri question, if you all don't mind
Hello all you Pennsylvanians!  I was hoping to get some input, if that's alright...

I just recently got engaged.  My fiance currently lives in Lawrenceville, NJ and works in Titusville, NJ.  I currently live in WI, and because of the nature of my job, I'll be moving his way after we get married.  We are looking at the possibility of moving across the border into PA, and I was wondering if any one had any area recommendations.  He would prefer to not have to drive more than about 1/2 hr to get to work.

Any recommendations are much appreciated!

Area around Doylestown is also nice--and has a strong triathlon contingent (just to keep it revelent in the forum ).  You have a fair amount of options that meet your criteria depending upon exactly what you are looking for and how much you can afford to spend.

I grew up (and my parents still live) in Warminster which would be at about the outer edge of your 30-min commute.  Probably on the relatively inexpensive side in terms of housing costs and much more developed than some of the areas closer to Titusville (though all of the area is much more developed than when I grew up there--plenty of newer construction developments).  I can probably answer some specific question about the towns in the area, but I live about 45min away now (sw of there).  I think there are a few other BTers that live out that way and would be more "current".

I used to work in Lawrenceville and lived in Feasterville, PA. The commute was around 30 minutes.
The big question is: what is your price range? Newtown, Yardley, Richboro are very nice, but pricy. Southampton, Feasterville, Bensalem, Levittown are more affordable. You just pretty much need to stick with Rt 1 area. Also, do you care about the school districts rating?

I love the Doylestown area (I actually live in Jamison Smile). But as far as the commute goes, getting to Rt 1 in the morning is a nightmare. It takes me 25 minutes at least just to get on 95.

You'll be far better than me in addressing local traffic patterns, but I don't think the OP would necessarily need to get on either Rt 1 or 95.  If I read it right, her fiancee works in Titusville (lives in Lawrenceville).  He could cross on 202 or even go through New Hope or Washington Crossing.  Right?

But you are certainly right about needing to prioritize some other considerations as well in deciding where to focus their search.

I currently live in Doylestown and have been here for 15 years.  Absolutely amazing town. If you can get past the Bucks County-bubble -- diversity is next to none -- you'll find there is plenty to do and see.  I commute to Princeton NJ for work - takes about 45 minutes. The drive is reasonable - enough time to have a coffee and listen to the news in the AM and ample time to relax and listen to tunes before the inevitable "how was your day" conversation.  Good luck with the move!

FYI - your rt 95 and rt 1 traffic is entirely contingent on what time you hit both spots. I am on 95 by 715 and rt 1 by 730 and i rarely have to content with non-accident induced traffic. Especially now that school is out and the buses are off the roads.

You are absolutely right: I thought the commute was to Lawrensville And I have a very vague idea of where Titusville is

That's a very good question.  Children are a definite maybe in the future...we are leaning towards homeschooling, but it wouldn't hurt to be in a good school district all the same...just in case.

Lived in doylestown all my life (18) years. Great schools and great place to be raised if you are thinking about kiddos in the future.
