I'm glad you posted this because I have no idea which pedals to buy. Is there a review site or something?

Love the Look Keo pedals.  I currently have the classic, but plan on upgrading to the carbon with the next bike.

This is probably a really stupid question, but why do you need 3 pairs?

Speedplays saved my knees too. I got them after my first set of pedals that screwed up my knees and never looked back. And once you break them in... they are like butter getting in and out of.

I have 2 set's of Speedplay X2's and am generally satisfied. You need to do the maintenance on them or you will be pissed off by them. They gunk up easily if you don't have the coffee shop covers and they are hard to clean out. Properly maintained, they are phenomenal.

I have Speedplay Frogs on my bike right now and I really like them. I know they're a "mountain bike" pedal, but they work great on a road bike also. I got them instead of the Zero or X3 because I wanted a recessed cleat to use with a more walkable shoe. I commute on my bike to work and find the walkable recessed cleats to be much nicer for all the stop lights/signs, and for the walk into the office. Plus it's nice when running through transition to not worry about slipping on my cleats!

Bottom line, with the frog you get the free float, positive locking, and spring-less exit of a Speedplay, in a walkable shoe! I've never had any problems clipping in, and getting out is a breeze, with no spring tension to overcome just like the Speedplay road pedals. There is basically no maintenance required (other than perhaps greasing the bearings once a year).

The speedplay X pedals saved my knees as well.  I was using old school look pedals and had major knee pain during and after any ride more than an hour.  I can now ride 5 hours without pain.  I also like the fact that the speed plays are two sided.  When you take off at a stop light, it's nice not to have to look down to check which side of the pedal you are trying to enter.

I love my Keo Classics. Good amount of float with the grey cleats and you really don't have to hunt to clip in. Great for beginners like me
