Subject: RE: Best Cycling Pedals - 2007I have Speedplay Frogs on my bike right now and I really like them. I know they're a "mountain bike" pedal, but they work great on a road bike also. I got them instead of the Zero or X3 because I wanted a recessed cleat to use with a more walkable shoe. I commute on my bike to work and find the walkable recessed cleats to be much nicer for all the stop lights/signs, and for the walk into the office. Plus it's nice when running through transition to not worry about slipping on my cleats!
Bottom line, with the frog you get the free float, positive locking, and spring-less exit of a Speedplay, in a walkable shoe! I've never had any problems clipping in, and getting out is a breeze, with no spring tension to overcome just like the Speedplay road pedals. There is basically no maintenance required (other than perhaps greasing the bearings once a year ).
