Any word on water temperature? Knowledge as to what the water temp is looking like it will be on race day? I don't know about 2.4 without a wetsuit...

huh? You don't know about 2.4 without a wetsuit? I hoped you knew that there was zero chance of this being a wetsuit legal race when you signed up. Better get in the pool! I am not being mean, just kinda amazed.

Holy cow, I may be doing laps tonight in the hot tub with my wetsuit on to get used to that temp.

It is quite warm.  I didn't know the actual temperature, but I helped a guy with his jetski in the Ohio River a couple weeks ago and it was like bath water.

Hey, to be fair--Ironman's first advertising for Louisville did say "wetsuits to be expected."

I knew they weren't permitted last year, but I was keeping my fingers crossed. . .

Some of us non-midwesterns have no idea.

I hope they are serious about the "downstream will result in fast times" part.

I just got back from swimming out on the course and the temp is quite warm. I was pretty hot without a wetsuit. I'd say the swim will definitely be faster based on the current downstream.

dont worry about the swim. I did the race last year and was 3 mins faster than my other IM swims. The current heading downstream will really get you going. good luck

I was going to wear a Tri top but have since decided against it due to the temp, I don't need to worry about over heating.

Note that I didn't say "I won't be able to complete the swim", just that "I don't know about 2.4..." What can I say, I love the extra buoyancy, and am not looking forward to spending an extra 20 minutes (compared to IMWI) in the water

You probably won't spend and extra 20 minutes in the water.  IMWI is in a lake and IMKY is in a river with a pretty good current.  Swim times in Louisville are pretty fast.
