Subject: Any goal time for Longhorn?
I was just wondering if anyone has any finishing time goals for the race this weekend.  My number 1 plan is to finish, #2 would be to go under 6:21(PR at Lubbock), and #3 would be to go sub 6 hours.  1/2 IM PR is not an option.  I am undertrained and this is a harder course than Playtri.

My goal is to make it to the 2nd loop of the run in time to tell the BTers in the tent to save me some BBQ for when I finish!

Slightly-disappointed-with-less-than goal:
1/2 PR of under 5:18:38

Realistically-aggressive-and-happy-to-get goal:
swim/T1 - 0:39:00
bike/T2 - 2:46:00
run - 1:45:00
Total - 5:10:00

Super-perfect-very-good-day goal:
swim/T1 - 0:38:00
bike/T2 - 2:40:00
run - 1:41:30
Total: 4:59:30

It's my first time at the HIM distance - - so my primary goal is to finish.  I'd hope I could do it around 6 hrs....

What are my goals on Sunday? My main goal is to finish. That's it. I just want to finish the race under my own power. Realistically, that's all that matters and all I'm pushing for. Being able to swim 1.2 miles, then bike 56 miles, then run 13.1 miles consecutively is its own accomplishment. But if things are going stellar, the weather is nice, the humidity is low, and I'm pushing *just* right, here's the ideal day:

1.2 mile swim @ 2:00/100yd pace: ~42:00
Transition 1: 07:30
56 mile bike @ 17mph: ~03:17:00
Transition 2: 07:30
13.1 mile run @ 11:30 min/mile pace: 02:30:00
Total time: 06:44:00

I'll be ecstatic with anything under 7 hours, but 06:44:00 would mean I demolished the course. I don't think there's any way I hit that bike average because I'll be holding back the whole time knowing the half-marathon is still to come, but who knows. I just have to keep myself in check all day.

Like some of you this is my first HIM. I'm not allowing myself to really push for any pace. If I had to say a time, I'd say in the 6 hour range. I'm gonna try to break 2 hours on the run..... but if it was 3, I'd still be happy and proud to finish! That's my main goal!

It's my first HIM too. Finish the race with a smile is my main goal.

Hey guys 35-39---try not to run me over on the swim! I'll try to stay out of your way!

Good luck with the goals. You'll probably reverse those transition times, though. For those that aren't aware, it's a pretty long, uphill run from the water to transition. I've done 4 or 5 races out there and while I'm normally very good at transitions, I've always taken well over 2 minutes for T1 as opposed to about 1 minute for T2.

How exactly do I reverse 2 transitions with the same goal time?
