I usually use water proof Band Aides during my run training but I'm afraid they will come off during the race. Should I be using something different that will stay on for the entire race?

If you wear a compression shirt you don't need bandaids.

Just had to share my war story on this subject.

Embarrassing moments at the pool.....I was doing a run and then went to the pool for a swim.  I had put bandaids across my nipples to stop abrasion from my cotton shirt and forgot they were there when I got to the pool and took my shirt off.  I was walking around the pool talking to some girls and trying to act cool....with bandaids across my nipples.

Let's be careful out there!

Forget the cotton shirts, I've seen too many blood spots on people's shirts at marathons, etc.  Body glide works wonders and compression shirts

I use the waterproof tape for all of my training and races.  It never comes off. But you can put an extra piece in your transition just in case.  I wear a tight racing uniform and they still hurt if i don't wear the tape.

If you're wearing a wetsuit, they should stay on the whole race without any problems.  I used duct tape and it was still where I left it at the end of IMCdA.  You might also consider second-skin as a precautionary layer (shouldn't burn if you're uninjured).

Cotton or dri-wick doesn't matter much for chafing.

Invest in a 'Tri-top' for the races or even for training if you want. I wear Nike Dri-fit to run , with bandaids on my nipples. But I race in a 2XU, tri top that fits like a second skin, no need for bandaids on race day.

Not as bad as walking around the pool with bandaids still on, But after I build up a sweat the bandaids are clearly visable through the shirt. Oh well, nothing worse then little scabs on the nipples.

IME waterproof bandaids will stay on the entire race.  Also IME a tight fitting tri top is NOT a substitute for bandaids.

Used them for Eagleman 70.3, no problems. I shudder to think of the dual gunshot wound look I would have had going if they had fallen off.

I gotta agree, di-wick or cotton, it doesn't matter for chafing.

I warn you- IF YOU DO GET A BAD CHAFING. BE CAREFUL OF INFECTION!!! I had a cut on my nipple that got infected: absolutely disgusting, indescribably painful injury.

I know this is somewhat common but i've never experienced this. I am still building my distance up again but I used to do ~10miles wearing cotton shirts and never had a problem.

My nips were/are pierced too so they are pretty much always erect and quite sensitive at times, odd that I don't have this issue.. and hope I don't.
