Been on about 10 Disney cruises, including the Med and Baltic cruise. Sailing next in 3 weeks. Our kids were 5 and 3 on our first cruise and 19 and 21 our last so they have grown up with DCL. We've sailed on Magic, Wonder and Dream. Feel free to ask away with questions. Or google DIS Disney Cruise and you'll find an Internet forum for DCL. |

We were thinking of doing Disneyland again, but with that promo it seems like a screaming deal right now.Was just curious about the experience of the cruise for the kids versus the park as well.Look for a Kids Sail Free Promotion, I believe they are running a special right now for a cruise in February.

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'll be following this thread! We're going on our first Disney Cruise in March on the Magic out of Galveston. We can't wait. We get to start booking excursions on 12/24. Also, I had a co-worker who is single and she and a friend go on a Disney cruise every year. She is a total foodie and cruise snob who has been on several other cruise lines, but feels that Disney is by far the best. She raved about the food, the service, the quality of the shows, etc. I have several other friends who have been on a Disney cruise and I have never heard anything negative (other than the cost, maybe). |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() We took our kids (16 and 9) on the Dream last summer. We did the Park/Cruise trip, so we spent 4 days/3 nights on the boat. This was the second cruise for the Mrs. and I, but our first Disney cruise. I was a little unsure about the cruise part because I was underwhelmed by our first experience. But, Disney knocked it out of the park. Both my kids said that they wished we had skipped the parks and just done the cruise. And they are both big park fans. Everything about the cruise experience was good. The ship was clean, the rooms (get a room with a balcony) seemed much bigger than they are, the service was amazing, and the food was unreal. Looking back at it, there is nothing about the cruise that I didn't like. Except that it ended too soon. Your kids should love it. I still have my bib from the Castaway Cay 5k that they run the morning you dock at their island. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Went on one in 2011 -- 7 day western carribean on the Magic. Fantastic time, and you will love it. Everything was great, it was intensely fun, we all had a great time, crew was awesome, ship is great. Honestly, no faults to be found anywhere. You'll love what they do when you arrive. You feel like you own the place ![]() |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My daughter is in the Youth Activities department on one of their ships. I've seen the effort that the crew puts into taking care of kids on the ship. Having been on the other side of it on other cruise lines, well, you've made the right choice. Disney has a certain level of customer service that they expect from their employees. Combine the service expectation with the resources that Disney has for kids (characters, equipment, etc) and you have the makings of a really enjoyable cruise. |

Royal(PITA) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() We did Disney Magic about 11 years ago. My daughters were about the same ages as your kids. Plenty of on board fun for the kids. They had a good mixture of game activities and fun learning experiences in all the kids activities on board. Parents had a lot of fun too. Castaway Cay was a good days fun, as was the trip into the Bahamas with the aquarium. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am going to have to be a slightly dissenting opinion. Our family loves Disney. We have been to Disney World a lot and we have been on three Disney Cruises, the last one was last winter. We were on the latest, greatest, giant luxury trip (the Dream?) I thought that the ship was too crowded. There was not enough deck and pool space for the number of people on the ship. It was hard to find a place to be out in the sun by the pool--lounge chairs could almost not be found. The pools were crazy crowded, enough so that my daughter who would normally swim for 12 straight hours didn't want to go fight the crowds in the pool. Also, we took my son who was 12 on a prior cruise. That is a terrible age for the Disney cruise. Too old for the kids club. Too young for the teen club. He did not love that trip. With all of that being said, my wife and son are going on another Disney Cruise very soon so it must not have been that bad. |

Both of our kids liked the RC cruises better. I agree. I think you pay a premium for the "Disney experience" which to be honest is not all it's cracked up to be. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Curious what people think the ideal age for one of these and a visit to Disney is. I have an almost 3 yo and that seems to young to really "get it" to me. (Plus we don't really watch much TV so I don't think she knows who any of the characters are.) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() DCL is a great vacation for kids. We have been on 4 disney cruises, all 4 ships, kids loved everyone and prefer disney, even my 20 yr old prefers disney, more girls he says !!! lol, the kids club gives you a cell phone not a pager that you and your spouse can split up and call each other around the ship as well as the kids club calls you on if there is a problem. My now 7 yr old loves the shows and the family comedians/magicians. Service is top notch as is the price but well worth it in my opinion. Go to cruise critics forums and you will get tons of info on ports, ships, excursions. Have a great time..
