IMC Registration? ? ? ?

I'm sure it sold out there. It's been YEARS since it didn't.

A bunch of my friends went up to do it this year.  They told me it sold out on-site....surprise surprise right?

Actually there's a rumor going around that they're going to have an on-line registration for a very limited amount of slots. I think 200-300 is the number going around.

Prior to the registration for the 25th anniversary race last year, they would close registration on Monday afternoon. And then in September they would auction off a couple of hundred slots. Demand was too high on site to do the auction for the 25th anniversary race.

Last year they announced after the race they would do the auction, and then the next day cancelled it. The speculation at the time was that WTC stepped in and shut the lottery down since IM Kentucky had yet to fill up.

This year there were "only" 2,200 athletes which is less then Lake Placid, but the venue can handle more then Lake Placid (bigger lake, one loop bike, bigger community with more lodging, etc.).

They may wait and see how many people with vouchers actually register and then offer either an on-line registration or an auction.

I would check the ironman.com and ironman.ca websites daily to see what they do.

Check out the IM Canada website. A few slots will go on sale via Active on Friday, Aug 29 starting at 9am PT!

I am in...

I got into Active..but filling all the forms out and entering my credit card number, and hitting the register button nothing happened.. I tried again but it said something like something limitations. So I don't think I got in..not really sure...did you guys get confirmation via email from active you are in?

I received email confirmation from Active almost immediately.  It is showing up as a pending transaction in my bank account too.

So I didn't get in which is what I figured..it was the final deciding delay before I clicked register. Probably best but now I get to do my final build time for IMFL with 3 daughters on 3 different soccer teams and start of school...doesn't sound ideal schedule wise.

Congrats everyone who got in....pretty lucky they had some open spots...very unusual.

I am IN!!! WOOHOO!! I got in at 11:59 and my friend at 12:01. We got lucky and i am so psyched!!! This will be my third Ironman and i was born in Canada!! I am so excited!

So... did they open it before 9 am Pacific?  Sounds ike it since someone got in at :59 of the hour, and by 9:04 Pacific it was sold out (therefore, could not have been 9:59...).  Not that I was going to register, I was just curious to see how fast it would sell out.

Not to raise a ruckus, but given the email quoted above that seems unfair

Two of my clubmates got skunked. (As of 9:03 AM PT)

I am trying to talk them into coming out to AZ (To Volunteer and Register) with me but I think they will probably end up in Cozumel for '09.
