Subject: Changing Avatar?
I can't believe I have to ask this but... I'm having trouble changing my avatar.

I uplaoded a pic but the old avatar still showed. I cleared my chache and it still showed. So I deleted the old pic, made sure it was gone by checking some of my friend's blogs and my avatare was gone, then uplaoded the new one again, and the old one still showed.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Your avatar is definitely gone now, it's not showing in this post as I'm reading it.

No matter what the actual image is, or what the name is when you upload it, the image name is always the same when it's loaded into your browser from BT. This indicates that it probably is a cache of the old one showing up.

What did you do to clear your cache? There's Ctrl+F5 and also the manual Clear Cache command the location of which depends on your browser. Also, it sometimes helps to close all browser windows after issuing the clear cache command.

One thing to try is to upload the new image and if you still see the old one, post here requesting that we report which one we see.

Thanks for the reply, Mike.

I manually cleared the cache before I shut down last night and left it with no avatar. I just uploaded the new pic but the old avatar is still showing. Persistent Bstd'!

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Rob

Okay, I got it. It was the damn Earthlink image accelerator cache (I’m using dial-up at home so I need all the help I can get when it comes to connection speed.)

Sorry for bothering you with this.

Rob

Dude, if it's taken this long for me to shatter the image you had, I must be doing something right?

I changed my avatar and *I* can see it, and a few other can see, but most people can't.  What gives?

I saw some weirdness in the path to the file name. Can you try uploading it again?

AAUUGGHH

Now its happening to me.  I changed my avatar today and others can see it, but I can't.  Cleared the cache, cleared the temp internet files, cleared all cookies, logged off, rebooted, ctrl+f5, yadda yadda yadda... where else should I look to clear this out?

I'd tell you, but now that the Backyardigans theme is stuck in my head, I don't think you deserve it.

Are you using any accelerator software, like Earthlink Accelerartor or Google Accelerator? They maintain seperate caches beyond the browser itself.

Glad I could help!  I'm convinced that the "Race around the world" episode should be a theme for BT.  Especially Austin singing at the end about being so slow and dead last.

Don't know what happened, but I can see it now.  Thanks!!!

You want to know something really sad?

I know that episode.
