yep,
Subject: Peaking for a 1/2 marathon....

My question has to deal with an issue I have coming up later in my season (this fall).  I'm racing the Baltimore 1/2 Marathon (10/10/09) and also have the OBX 1/2 marathon (11/10/09).

Now my main goal is Baltimore 1/2 but I would also like to do well at OBX.  Considering the course at OBX 1/2 is fairly flat I hope to really crush the course.

So my question is.. can I peak for both races even though I only have around a month difference between the two races.  If I can, what type of training am I looking at within those 4-5 weeks?

You won't be able to "peak" for both, but if you make B-More your goal you can parley your work and fitness from it into a good result for OBX.

After B-More you will need about 2 weeks to properly recover and heal up during which you can do some light recovery work, then you can put in some solid work the next week and cut back the one before OBX.

The key for you will be to use the next 15 weeks to really get a consistent schedule of running (hint hint) with one tempo or stride type effort, one GA run, one LSD (building up to about 12 - 14 miles at a max that you'll do 3 or 4 times) and at least one recovery.  I'd really rather see 5 runs a week, especially with Ragnar and Ann. 10 miler in the mix as well.  But you should be hitting at a minimum 4 runs a week.
