Subject: Spin classes
This may seem like a silly question, but I'd like to hear people's thoughts on how to track time in Spin Class in the training logs.

Do you just put your time down for biking (I feel so unaccomplished!!!)?

Do you put some fixed distance for your effort (may be construed as log padding)?

Any other thoughts/ideas?

Thanks in advance--Tom

Subject: RE: Spin classes

I have a Spinner at home and just log the time as cycling.

Here's how I look at it: Am I talking on a day with no wind, or high winds? Are there a lot of turns or is it straight? These can change the distance pretty drastically even over a short amount of time.

While on the spinner, I can only accurately measure time (Volume) and HR (effort level), but these are the two main metrics I use for a training session anyway.  Miles are a useful way to quantify a ride, eg "I rode 37 miles today", but time and effort are the best way to quantify a workout eg. "I rode for 60 minutes in Zone 2  with 10 minutes of accelerations into Zone 3".
