Subject: Core Training within a training plan.
Hey everyone,

I am completely new to Triathlons and I have signed up for the Princeton HIM in Sept. I downloaded the 12 week basic Olympic training plan, with the hopes of getting in some base work this winter before a 20 week HIM plan, and getting my swim yardage up. However, in the plan, I have found a Core #2 in my strength training. I cannot find any information on what that is. The rest of the plan is great, loaded with specifics and details. This Core #2 is just kind of sitting there at the end of the work out. Now I am not new to strength training or endurance training, so I am comfortable with just adding some core work, but how much? Can anyone help me out with this

Go to 'training plans' --> 'using your plan' (top right) --> 'strength and core'

Or directly here: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=631

Using a high-volume schedule for many months is not the best tactic. Build speed and skill several months out, and then transition to a high-volume IM plan.

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.

This plan is an advanced plan in terms of volume and intensity and appropriate for someone who is looking to go under 5:00 and as fast as 4:30. There isn’t a lot of fluff in the plan.
