Swim
Comments: Faster swim than I imagined. I was counting on 38 minutes. Very nice feeling from start to finish What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: A slow transition but that was the plan , being my first oly. I figured if I took my time in transition, it would give me some time to catch my breath. Took the time to dry myself off a bit and put a windbreaker on. Forgot to put my helmet on and had to walk back a few meters to get it. Rookie mistake ! What would you do differently?: Do not hide the helmet, even if it’s raining, that way you are less likely to forget it! Bike
Comments: 2 laps of 20k each, headwind on the way out, tailwind on the way back, which was nice. Also faster than planned (1:30) despite the rain which by then was quite heavy. First race on the new bike I bought last year. He did well Transition 2
Comments: Another slow transition, as was planned, Took the time to sit down, dry my feet and put socks on. Run
Comments: Slower than my goal (60) but I may have overestimated my ability here. The run is definitely my weak point, mainly because I don’t train enough due to various aches and pains. Still, It felt good the whole time. What would you do differently?: Train more if my body permits it Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: First oly out of the way. For years (7 to be precise) I never wanted to do anything longer than a sprint but I like this distance and will certainly do more in the future! Event comments: A small village race, very well organised, plenty of happy volunteers despite the dreadful weather. Last updated: 2021-08-28 12:00 AM

My first oly on my home turf.
Up at 7, walked to the site with the dog to pick up my start kit. Breakfast and walked back with my gear around 8:30.
Not much, just walking around, light stretching and a few strokes to get a feel of the water. Not too cold (18C) perfect
