So it looks like there is enough interest to run another "700 mile" challenge in May and I'm volunteering to run it.

I have set up a Google Spreadsheet to help manage it because I want you to be able to enter your own totals and track your progress. You can view a sample of the sheet here:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=p-M90esvFfFDhcLf_q3ayag&hl=e...

I just cooked up this sheet in a few minutes, so I might add to it later, but you get the general idea.

So, if you're interested in joining the challenge for May, please send me a PM with your e-mail. I will then make you an editor on the spreasheet so that you can add your name and goals for the month as well as your progress.

It looks like your spreadsheet allows for varied goals like the different levels that Jorge is using in the April challenge. I just wanted to check that you intended more than just the 700 level?

This is the first challenge I think I will have time to participate in but really have no idea how this or any other challenge works.  (I did read the sticky so I do have some idea but the are there certain rules for this challenge?)  Is it 700 miles total between s/b/r or just one of the disciplines?

EDIT:  to me the spread sheet appears to show that 700 miles of cycling is the requirement.  Can I adjust the other two down if I need?

Yes you can! The whole point of the spreadsheet is to:

1 - Let you establish your own goals based on what you need for your training plan. But it is a challenge, so some goals *should* seem hard

2 - Enter your own progress which makes it easier to manage.

If you're interested, PM your email address and I will give you rights to add your name to the spreadsheet.

OK BT'ers, today is your last chance to sign-up for the May Challenge. 700 miles of riding basically means you have to ride LOTS so you'll most likely want to start tommorrow morning

The Google Spreadsheet is all set to go at: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=p-M90esvFfFDhcLf_q3ayag&hl=e...

You can enter your own Challenge goals and your progress - this will be the easiest Challenge for you to track and see how you're doing.

Please PM me your e-mail address and I will give you edit rights to the spreadsheet and you will be all set for the May Challenge!

Weird - you shouldnt need a password as long as you're an editor on it. Let me check the settings again.

I tried it again and it said the password was a required field. (When I access the link it goes right to a logon screen)

The spreadsheet is set up with 7 day weeks ending on Wednesdays through the month so I updated it with my totals, converted from metric, as of this evening. My bike and run distances are both lagging behind but I'm still hoping to catch up.

Fantastic! Make sure to include your mileage that *includes* Wednesday in your totals.

I also have some catching up to do - getting up to do a consistent 22 miles each day is not easy!

Another week on the sheet. Caught up on the run, but the swim is lagging just a bit. Bike is still way behind, partially because I had a race last Sunday and didn't want to push the bike too far on Sat. Weather here is looking better this weekend though.

I am pretty much on track.

I have only bagged 2 workouts this month so far but was able to make one of them up. (Both were swim workouts and one of them I missed was today)

Run and Bike are Solid and I should be pretty close to the half way point for the swim after tomorrow mornings Ocean Swim

Oops!

I just noticed that the entries for each week were not supposed to be the cumulative totals so far but the totals for that week. I was editing all my entries and must have clicked myself into the wrong row because I had just changed Chr15 Tree's last run entry. Sorry Chris.

I'm way behind now on the bike and wont be able to catch up so I also cut some of my goals back a bit.

We are into our final week of the month:

How is everyone doing?

I noticed that some of us are not updating the spreadsheet so I thought I would throw up a post and see what's up with everyone

As for me, I will easily make my run and bike goals and should make my swim goal for the month. The Swim has been tough because of weather and poor water quality. (Had to bag a few long swims in the ocean)

I am in my final week of training for CdA and feeling good. (The challenge has kept me focused on hitting my workouts)

Seems like I am going to make it.

I hit my run goal with this mornings run and am less than 1,000 yards to go on the swim. I have a bit over 20 to go on the bike and have a long ride planned for tomorrow so will blast through the goal early in the ride

Oh so close. I made the run and the bike goals but not the swim. I spent almost a week with no swimming due to storm runoff and today the pool was closed. (Water was very cloudy )

Goals for the month:

Swim: 40,000 Yards
Bike: 700 Miles
Run: 300 Miles

Here is how it turned out:

May's totals:
Bike:38h 58m 42s  - 791 Mi
Run:37h 51m 39s  - 314.21 Mi
Swim:10h 26m 50s  - 39018.42 Yd

I overshot the bike goal mostly because I moved up a 100 mile ride to today to take advantage of the stiff on shore winds we have been having recently. (Wind Training is great)

Thanks for the challenge guys
