OK BTers....

Anyone every do this one? Im thinking about adding it to my schedule.
Looks fun and its only a 2.5 hr drive from the house.
If things continue to progress with the ticker and I get through Peachtree City ok, im thinking this would be a good follow up to Emerald Coast.
thoughts?

My husband's doing it as his 'first.' I'm originally from near Vidalia, so it gives reason to go visit home.

The race director says there are no cutoff times, but unofficially they will begin closing the course after two hours to start the award ceremony. He also says that he's having trouble with mapping software but will have 'something' up by the end of the week as far as the course. Something about just doing it the old fashioned way or something.

I would do it, but husband made me swear that whatever tri he picked to be his first that I would not participate other than as a spectator. So, I'll be there cheering (maybe volunteering, who knows.)

This race looks pretty cool. It's a possibility, but not likely for me. I want to do Tugaloo the week before, but if I can't do that, then I will look at this one.

Nothing like a Vidalia Onion.. especially grilled. mmmmmm.

I was planning on this race, but needed to change the rest of my race schedule.  It looks fun but the part about 'doing it the old fashioned way' might scare me a bit!

I think he meant he was just going to have to draw the course out on an actual map and scan and post.

I was hoping he didn't mean just 'winging it' when it came to measuring out the course.  As in...I think this is about a 5K!  But I'm only going on what the earlier post said about wining it...

Hi, All,

A few notes since I just finished the brick for this one. First, the city is actually Lyons if you are trying to mapquest or google for directions. Address listed on the application is 985 Harden Chapel Rd.

The swim started at the bank, out toward a bouy 25 m, turn left toward the next bouy 25 m, then back to shore 25 m. (You make an inverted triangle from the shore.)

Bike started at the same place, so not a big distance between finish/start. You bike out of the subdivision (Creek Shoals Estates). Turn right on Harden Chapel to Hwy 1. Turn around, pass the entrance to the subdivision, go on to Hwy 56, turn around & re-enter the subdivision. When I passed the subdivision, I thought, good grief this is going to be FOREVER. Then when I got back, I thought, "Wow, we're here already?" So, it wasn't bad at all.

We did not do the run today, but were told that the three miles winds through the cul-de-sacs inside the subdivision.

Hope this helps. BTW, the weather today was more than great, only a few spots of sunshine even peaking through.

Depending on Dr final approval, I plan on doing this race as my final for the season.  I was scheduled to do nationals but a knee issue virtually put me out of training for a month.  I have a best friend from college that is a preacher in vidalia, so I have a place to stay and an added reason to go.  He said the bike is pancake flat and the run is "south Georgia hilly" which will be good for my knee.

If I do go, I look forward to sharing in all of the free Sports Beans that I am sure you will be bringing

My wife is from this area and I train often on the back roads in South Georgia (about once a month). The hills are rolling and some climbs are long but overall, a welcome change from flatness. i am considering doing this race. Who else is in?

Fred- Enjoyed meeting you at the race.  You ran a fast one.  I  don't think I could have kept you from passing me on the run with a bionic knee!

You'll toast me once your knee is right. You have the long legs, un-like my stubs that cost me in the sprint finish...lol
I had to laugh at my T2 time...lol
That was one of the most enjoable races Ive ever done with us all within sight all day and the top 3 finishing within 17 sec.
Great event for a first year tri.
