Expert 711 | Subject: RE: Sooooooo how was Belle River??? I've checked the website four times already today looking for official results so I can do my race report, but still no info available! I want some pictures too so I can finally give myself an avatar - but the official photographer's photos aren't loaded either and my family didn't take any for me (can't blame him - he only has two hands and there was a kid in each one). Tracey, David, and I did really well in the try-a-tri!! I had to leave before the sprinters were finished, but I hope everyone else had a good race too. I want to hear all about Jeff's near-drowning experience!! |

Member 51 | Subject: RE: Sooooooo how was Belle River??? Wow...What a great day!!! As far a full race report I don't have all the details but here is what I remembered. Jenna finished 4th overall for the Tri-a-Tri and I (David) finished 5th overall. It was nice to meet Tracy and see all the others. This was a great first test. I now know what I need to work on EVERYTHING!!!! Again great job everyone. What about everyone else...what about other race reports???? |

Extreme Veteran 454 Canton, MI | Subject: RE: Sooooooo how was Belle River??? I will compile a full race report when the result posted. Ok I can't wait. Here is the summery: The swim is very simple. go out, turn around and come back. However it become a belle river water drinking fest (only for me). The wave is very choppy and I breath in water instead of air every time I pop my head up. I almost choke to death before the turning point. I bet that the guide at the turning point is thinking rather come out to save me or let me keep going. I give up swimming to save my life and do walk/swim instead. I am actually surprise I get out of the water alive, only a little dizzy. I get out of the water 2nd last. T1 is a running race. Indeed T1 is longer than the swim course I believe. It is kind of confusing but the pre-swim instruction is helpful, and volunteer did a great job guiding after the sensor line. Wearing wet shoes slow me down in the water, but I am able to pass several people in T1. The bike course is nice and flat with only mild wind. I only use 3 gears. It is an open course. We are riding with traffic, but traffic is minimal. I almost got hit by a truck on the way back, but thats due to my stupidly and lack of common sense of not using the brake. Another thing I don't like is the end of the course where we have to cross a train track on top of the hill. I can't see the end line until I cross the hill/train track so I don't know when to dismount. I dismount my shoes before the train track and that cost me some time. T2 is very simple but the start run is kind of confusing. But volunteer did a great job pointing me to the right direction. run - Don't know if its du folks but I saw someone running on the path instead of the street, which is longer distance because of the twisty road. I run on the street instead of the path and everybody around me do the same. The course is nice and flat. The returning trial is very nice paved trial. Its a very nice race overall. Volunteer did a great job guiding through out the course. Only wish I am a better swimmer. trysprintolympic - 2009-05-31 9:13 PM I've checked the website four times already today looking for official results so I can do my race report, but still no info available! If thats you, do you know that you are the 1st female finisher and you earn a trophy? It's very exciting to race with you and David at the 2nd & 3rd leg. I hope to see race with you two again in August! |

Ahh, so you must be Elvin!! I remember that very well because I was right behind you when it happened. I thought I was going to have to go back to the train tracks to flag down a cop for help! And yes, that picture is of me. Thanks for posting it - although I wish I didn't look quite so haggard. Oh well, I guess that's what happens in a race. And thanks for posting a picture of me in front of you, even though you passed me about 30 seconds later. |

All I can think of at that moment is to conserve every bit of momentum to catch up with David. I was "brilliantly" thinking about pass the F150 on my bicycle! LOL By the time I hit the brake to avoid the crash, I know the catch-up game is over. But I stay alive... (note to self: Don't do it again!) Too bad you are not doing the Windsor one. That was a chill to push myself and passing each other back and forth. |

Member 51 | Subject: RE: Sooooooo how was Belle River??? Alvin I sure wish I could of seen you try to pass the truck. I think that would of been priceless. I almost crashed coming back to the stop sign when the full tri guys were crossing the tracks. The police officer wouldn't tell either one of us to stop so we almost crashed into each other. At the last minute I got on brakes until I was at a complete stop and let the "Russell" one the full Triathlon guys go infront of me. Alvin/Jenna are you doing the Leamington Tri-a-tri or Sprint Triathlon Edited by Time2_triatri 2009-06-01 3:41 PM |

Alvin/Jenna are you doing the Leamington Tri-a-tri or Sprint Triathlon Did the officer do that on purpose so he can watch the amazing crash? Open road is not ideal. But for the size of the race, I guess we have to live with that... If you are amuse with my attempt to pass a F150, you should watch my "flying dismount". Not sure if Jenna saw that behind me, but my version of "flying dismount" involved me launching from the bike seat onto the top post with both my feet on air. Ouch. I am not doing the Leamington, but I will be doing the Windsor Tri Sprint August. hope to see you there! |
