In T1 looking for my Schwinn Huffy
Subject: New Tunes
I'm REALLY tired of listening to the same songs on my iPod, but have fallen desparately behind the times (combination of laziness and having to the chinese water torture of Miley Cyrus and Jonas brothers favored by my four kids)

Looking for some good new songs to download to get me through the tougher workouts...any new (or not so new) songs that get you amp'd up while training.

Like others have said, depends on your tase.  I've got a pretty wide variety but have been looking for soemthing new (to me) recently as well.  A co-worker turned me on to Ida Maria's "Fortress around my heart" which I love.  Also, I like Wilco's latest CD.

I honestly like almost every type of music (except Disney teen idols   My most tunes over past few months have been songs by:

1. Kings of Leon (last two albums)
2. U2 (latest album)
3. Coldplay
4. AC/DC (the older stuff)
5. Dave Matthews
6. Kid Rock
7. Sting (older stuff)
8. Annie Lennox (older stuff)
9. Green Day
10. Dire Straits

All pretty mainstream stuff (hey, I'm 42, married and four kids..give me a break), but I'm really burning out on all of them, so looking for new bands or songs to get my through the long runs and indoor trainers!

I am with you on some of those, but I have mostly all heavy metal on my Ipod.
Metallica, AC/DC, Korn, Disturbed. I am 45 and love heavy metal. Last thing I want to listen to when lifting, running, etc. is easy listening or pop.

I am also with you on the Kings of Leon albums, I don't know about the Miley Cyrus stuff!  Here is a few that I like:

Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before The Ship Ever Sank (Whole Album)
Devil Wears Prada - Still Fly (Big Tymers Cover)
The Raconteurs - Consolers of The Lonely
Clutch
Queens of the Stone Age
Black Sabbath
Ministry - Psalm 69
Eminem (8 mile gets me going)
and just for fun I throw some WEEN and Bloodhound Gang in there!

Based on the list you provided, some new(ish) songs that might work for you:

"These Things" (She Wants Revenge)
"Time to Pretend", "Kids" (MGMT)
"Running up That Hill" (Placebo)
"Le Disko" (Shiny Toy Guns)
"Lazy Eye" (Silversun Pickups)
"Hang Me Up to Dry" (Cold War Kids)
"Island in the Sun" (Weezer)

Death Cab for Cutie actually has some good stuff for running (I like "Crooked Teeth"). And it's not very new, but the mashup of "Closer" and "In Da Club" (NIN/50 Cent) is all kinds of awesome for running if you can find it to download.

I kept hearing so much from everyone about this song so I listened to it, and have just downloaded it my ipod...excuse me while I go over to the embarassing songs on your ipod thread (kidding...just not a Miley Cyrus fan)

Anything by Richard Cheese. Someone here suggested his music to me about two years ago and it has eventually made its way into my library...but never during a workout...

Try an oldie,  my favorite running CD.  Fleetwood Mac , 'The Dance'

Somehow every song offers something great to keep me going.  I am so technophobic that that was all I had on my IPOD for 6 months and it still never managed to disappoint.
