It's now 20 weeks from Boise 70.3.  About time to start praying for good weather on race day.  After racing there in 2009 and last year I swore I'd never be back because of the crazy weather but this is such a great event and Boise is such a fun town I had to try again.  For those who were there last year and are coming back, I think this guys says it well:

Who all is planning on being there?

I'm in.  I love Boise, love this race, wouldn't miss it.

Plus, after last year, there is no way that the weather can't be at least better than that, right?  Now knocking on all wood within reach!

I'm not going back this year for it. After last years disaster I say no thanks. But then again I'm doing IM CDA on the 23rd of June so that is too close to race day.

I was disappointed to not to get to ride the full bike course as that was my old stomping grounds. I do say that I really enjoyed the run on the greenbelt there. I've ran that course many of times while in college there. Brought back memories on top of I knew where I was at on the course at all times.

Best of luck to you that enter it.

Hello, fellas!! I'm in again...a little bad weather redemption. Last year it was my first 70.3 so I was a little too nervous to enjoy my time in Boise and afterwards just bummed out. Now, two 70.3s and a 140.6 later, I'm more excited than I am nervous and hope to have a great race.

Already checking the weather reports...LOL !

Honesptly i am surprised they came back after last year. It is a great city though just might want to stand by to ride in your wetsuit.

It's my town and this will be my first 70.3 after 2 seasons of 4-5 Oly's each.  Starting to get excite, and also, hoping for decent weather.

I'm in.

Figured coming down from Canada the one advantage I may have is that I am used to crappy weather! See you all there...

I am signed up for the Ironman 70.3 Boise.  This will be my first half.  I have been using the free 20 week training program from this website and am on week 8 (12 weeks down).  Has anybody else used this program to prepare for a half ironman, and how well did it work out for you?  I would be interested in hearing anyone's experience.

Welcome to the madness.  This will be my third year at Boise and I've used the 20 week BT plan each time with a few modifications.  If you hit all the volumes you will be fine.

I believe the race is in 10 weeks from this Saturday though.  Good luck and pray for good weather.

Popsracer, thanks for the reply.  I had originally planned on the Ironman 70.3 St. George in May but decided to stay closer to home and signed up for Boise.  I will have to repeat a few of the training weeks to make it work out but I figure some extra training won't hurt.  I have read the race reports from previous years and am definitely concerned about the weather but there is not much anyone can do about that except deal with it on race day.  However, like you say, I am praying for good weather.

Very bummed that I'm going to have to miss this race this year.  Took a new job, so won't be able to take the time off to get to Boise for registration.  Also having hard time training enough to be ready.  Major bummer and to top it off, job really sucks.  Well, put it on the calendar for next year.

I'm bailing on this race too.  I have mixed feelings about it.  There is another Olympic distance race that day I've foregone the last four years to do Boise and Hawaii each twice.  I just can't get past the uncertain weather.  I guess since I'm sitting this one out the weather will now be perfect.   Good luck.

not much activity on this forum this year compared to last. Wonder if last years crap weather has turned away many people. I know I have said I won't go back and do the race again yet I've been thinking that I want to do it next year and take that chance. I want to be able to do the full course there and see how I fair.

Hope all who raced had a good day. Dramatic change in weather from last year, wow! I was in town but did not race, looked like a hot one. Watched the swim, and thought that I wished I was racing, watched the run and was a little glad I wasn't. But, overall, I wish I had been able to race this year. I do love Boise, and that race. Its a good course with a fun crowd and lots of support. Maybe next year!
