Buttercup ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I won't be happy with my body until every bit of fat/cottage cheese looking grossness has disappeared from my butt and thighs. I want my flat stomach back too!!! I want my butt to look smooth as satin once again. I will reclaim my 21 year old body, damnit! I turn 44 in January. I expect it to have been burned off by then. My goal is to reach 115 lbs by then. I don't care if it's realistic or not, that's my angry goal. So there! *shaking my fist at my disastrous 30s decade* /rant |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I hear you sister!!!!! ![]() When I started working out I thought I would have a nice athletic body in a year... A year has passed... Cottage cheese still there ![]() I came to my senses..... I went for a 15 mile run yesterday... 11 min mile including 25 mile gusted winds.... I do not have the same body when I was 25, I have a better trained body ![]() I though about surgery.... BUT I would need brain surgery to finally be happy with my body LOL LOL LOL |

Buttercup ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() AWESOME job on the run, yesterday! I did my biggest run ever yesterday - 10 miles. My 21 year old body was much better looking than my 43 year old body, but it never ran more than 3 miles (and that was a one-of event). I guess I should feel thankful for that. I'd feel much more thankful if I wasn't carrying this extra ~ 15 lbs!! *back to being angry about my fattiness* |

Science Nerd ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You might not have the same body that you had when you were 21, but you must have much more now than you did then. Think of how much more you know now and what you've accomplished as you've gotten older. It may not make up for not having the same body, but it's something to keep in mind. Besides, you're so determined, you'll have your old body back, plus you'll have everything else. ![]() |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks..... I am sore..... old bag of bones ![]() 10 miles!!! Woooooo.... you should be very proud...... It is hard but it feels sooooooo good, doesn't it! Nothing we can do in that department... Keep training and try to be the best in our age group. Edited by clflgrl 2005-10-31 12:27 PM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() A while back, I e-mailed my sister and told her that I was feeling old, and she told me to look at this website: http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com/ I felt much better! All those celebrities mutilating themselves for "beauty"..... I would also suggest reading More Magazine. All the models in the magazine are over 40 and the articles and fashions are geared to women over 40. Their website is http://www.more.com |

Buttercup ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Michele, the problem is not that I feel old. The problem is that I'm lumpy - it disgusts me. I became lumpy only in the last 5 or so years. Age and neglect. I feel young; I feel 16. Often my body tells me it ain't so but for the most part I am in blissful denial. I met a 35 yr old woman who told me that I didn't look any older than she was. I wanted to slap her - I didn't look near as old/tired as she did! I was insulted. Yes, the vanity is in high gear today. |

Yes, the vanity is in high gear today. I've had people tell me, "You look good for someone with 3 kids...." I never know how to take that? What is a woman with 3 kids supposed to look like? And if you didn't know that I have 3 kids, would you think that I look bad? I would bet that you are much harsher on yourself than anyone else. But I applaud you for not just assessing your "lumps" and saying, "well that's what happens with age..." You are working to be the best that you can be....And I don't know that it's vanity as much as that part of you that wants to be the "best".... (that's what I keep telling myself anyway---I'm not vain---I just have high expectations....) ![]() |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Renee - 2005-10-31 1:44 PM Michele, the problem is not that I feel old. ....I feel young; I feel 16. I feel the same way and I'm now on the other side of 50. Most days I feel like I could do almost anything physical that I could do in my youth. A lot of people think I'm about ten years younger than I am - I'm not always sure how to react to that either. I don't mind the graying hair (at least I've still got all of it) As a guy, I guess I'm most frustrated with having a thicker middle than I had when I was twenty. That and a slower metabolism that doesn't let me drink beer and eat cheeseburgers all night without gaining an ounce. Mark

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey Renee, you've got great goals, realistic or not! Keep at 'em. Just think of this: 60%-70% of the American population doesn't even engage in regular exercise; over 60% of Americans are overweight or obese! Blecccccchhhh!!! Now that's gross, not a prime-of-life lady who's logged 800-plus miles biking, nearly 300 running and almost 100,000 yards swimming in 10 months. That's hot!!! |

![]() | ![]() Oh that Mick... First, he can't get no satisfaction... So he reaches for his mother's little helper... puts some women under his thumb... and then tells em to get offa his cloud... finally finds out it's only rock and roll... thinks it's a drag getting old... says to start him up and he'll never stop... ends up a beast of burden... and finally learns... you can't always get what you want... but if you try sometimes... you might find... you get what you need... Hang in there Renee, you're doing great! ![]() |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Even though I'm 20...I still get the "getting old" panic. It SCARES ME TO DEATH to think that I'm supposed to be getting married soon, getting a "Real job" soon, and that the days of college and sleeping till noon and staying up till 3 at Waffle House are going to be gone very soon. But the training will always be there. My running shoes are always there. The bike sits comfortingly at the foot of my bed...yes, the workout will always be there. I'm much healthier now than I was even at the peak of my swimming career. I'm much more stable mentally too, I think the running has really helped push me away from the seasonal depression I usually suffer. |

Remember, men are attracted to women who are articulate, intelligent, witty and strong, all of these traits you exude. Don't ever sacrifice these traits for cellulite reduction. We think you're beautiful just the way you are. (and I've never seen you) |

Buttercup ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm 5'2" and at 115 lbs I look healthy (from what I remember). My mom said 107 was too skinny (that was when I was 26), 110 is pushing it but 115 is attainable and sustainable, while still eating what I want. Just need to keep the metabolism up and stay on my running and/or tri program. I no longer care about what men find attractive. I care about looking what I think I should look like, based upon past (healthy) experience. Hurtling towards my 50 year birthday is inevitable (I hope!!!) but that doesn't mean I have to take the fat with me. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Oh geez, I hear ya! I turned 35 this year and realized that just because I exercise like crazy I can't still eat like I am 25. It takes soooo much work now just to maintain my weight let alone lose that 15 pounds I need to get rid of! I could go on an on. I've never been happy, and probably never will be. I guess I better head to the gym now... |
