Hello Everyone!
I am very excited to have found this site
(thanks Murdock
).
I am very young to athletics, I spent high school taking dancing classes and a brief stunt with track and field
(only two weeks until I nailed my chin on the hurtles, that was it for me
). Then one day about 2 years ago my best friend
(Murdock
) and I were driving to work and we heard a commercial on the radio... a 350 mile bike ride from Bear Mountain New York to Boston Massachusetts, to raise money for AIDS
(I lost an uncle a couple years back to AIDS
). We did not own bikes but both felt compelled to participate. We went out, bought the "best" bikes for the trip
(named them Lavern and Shirley
), and off we went, training for the most difficult challenge of our lives. We did it!
All 350 miles, it was the best 4 days of our lives, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.... When we returned our bikes went into storage, and we spent the next 2 years 'talking' about being more athletic... and losing our shapely
(bike trained
) figures...
We have recently signed up for a Tri in Duxbury Ma and are working so hard at getting back into the athletic routine. We have even wiped the dust off of Lavern and Shirley!
One thing that I am hoping to gain from a tri is a sense of self importance, finding something that is all mine, that I can do on my own and feel a sense of accomplishment ... with that I know that there will be more tri's to follow, and a long with that sense of self a return of that shapely figure!
I am gaining so much from this site, and the training techniques of others, I am very greatful!
Thank you for your ideas and support! Wish us luck!
