Yep, got that one on my calendar too. Geez, Feb is a busy race month!

MM...are you doing the MBAA MTB series in '09? I just saw the tentative schedule out. Estrella is the day before this race, so I may be doing a back-to-back race weekend.

Oh Boy, Feb is a very busy month, I didnt plan on racing Estrella this year, but it can easily be place on my calendar. I will do the desert classic though.

I am excited to do the mbaa races this year hoping I can imporve on my times. White tanks, McDowell, Mogollon Rim (unless its payson), and the two in Flagstaff are what I will have on my race calendar.

Feb 15, 2009 - Lost Dutchman Marathon, Apache Junction

I am not sure I will be recovered from The Lost Dutchman in time to do this. But I would love to do a Duathalon. I have never done one. Now I am torn.

I think Ms. Zilla has talked me into doing this.  So the deal is no one else in the 25-29 AG is allowed to participate.  Last year there were only 2 ppl in that AG.  I could so place!

And Erik is thinking about expanding his mtn bike racing schedule some, so we might be up doing the MBAA race the day before as well.

I'm seriously thinking of this one, but with Lost Dutchman and RAGNAR  plus my hiking club stuff- that's quite a Feb.  Not sure yet.

Yeah no kidding.  She'll probably get a flat the morning of and even though we can all fix it, she'll go home.  Tho I'm told Trixie is coming out to do it.  So it might at least get her in the vicinity of the park.

I've done this race the last 2 years, and could never figure out why no BT peeps ever seemed interested in this race before.  Maybe conflicted with RAGNAR?

It's quite fun, both runs are mostly trail and the ride is rolling hills on the roads around McDowell Mountain Park.  The second run has a super gnarly (but not very long) hill.  The first run is WAY faster than a typical tri run and the second run is really painful.

As far as bike courses go, this course is 50 times better than the TTL courses I'm used to in the Phx area.  Only one U turn!

There are usually some major pros at this race.  I think last year I saw Joanna Zeiger and Simon Whitfield was there the year before.  I believe Sam McGlone did this race the year before that.

The parking situation isn't the greatest....you park a long way from the start/finish which isn't a big deal for athletes, but it's kind of a pain for families with young kids.  The only other kind of negative thing last year was they used these racks where you stick your bike wheel into a specific slot rather than a more generic location hanging from a bar.  It seems like a good idea until the first person puts their wheel in the wrong slot, well that means that everyone behind ends up putting theirs in one slot over, the last person in is SOL.  I saw 2 people completely freaking out because they had no slot to rack their bike  at T2....not really a big deal just giving you all the info I can think of.

I think I'm in for this race again.

That sounds like a great race. Point me to the links for the other February races. Looked on the triathalator calendar for races, but the classic was the only thing listed.
