I am doing it with a friend.  She is bouncing between doing the 66 and the 105.  It would be her first full century so she is leaning toward the 66, partly because the Bud people put on such a nice spread afterwards and it may be gone if we do the full 105.

They give you two free beers.  In addition to the beverages last year, they had a couple of different dishes to choose from and music.

There was still plenty of food left after the 105 last year.  I plan on doing it again.

I am doing the 66. This will be first time for me on the Cartersville route and I'm looking forward to it. This will also be the first time I have ever attempted to ride more than 50 miles, so I just hope I'm not too tired to enjoy my free beer.

Neal - I can't believe you're going to ride 100 miles the week before Augusta. You rock!

Deciding between the 66, the 105 or doing my long run that day.  Neal, are you riding slow?

Yes, I rode 66 miles with her a few weeks ago and we were below 15 mph.

Yes, but you did it around 18-19 mph.  We will be closer to 14.

What's everybodys thoughts about doing this tomorrow in the probable rain? Weather.com says 30-40% chance of showers before noon with chances going up after that. I am thinking probably will show up if I feel it won't be a continual downpour, just spotty rain here and there. No way if thundershowers.

I have not looked at the weather because we will be there regardless.

I figured you'd say that, but you're a hard-core cycling god. Laughing I'm way less dedicated!

Some friends are riding it. I would be there, but I have to go to south Atlanta and sit in the rain for an hour not playing a tennis match at 10:30.

Y'all, I'm in. i need to get at least a 100 mile ride in tomorrow and aid stations combined with good food and beer afterward makes the $40 well worth the trip. I plan on riding at about 17-19 mph pace if anyone wants to ride with me. I'll be on a P2C with Hed wheels and a Seminoles sticker by the cranks.

he probably means the mostly non-stop rain. I thought we were going to luck out when it didn't rain for the first hour, but then it started coming down in earnest. The first hour of rain was a really hard downpour. Then it was a constant light rain the rest of the way.

Although i must say the route was great and the rest stops fantastic. I've never seen that much yummy junk food at rest stops before! I look forward to doing it again when I can enjoy it more. Yesterday was the most sopping wet, cold ride i have ever done. My shoes had so much water in them it was like a watermill. pick up a bucket on the upstroke and push it out on the downstroke.

I don't want to speak for Mark, but I agree with Cindi.  He was probably talking about the rain.  It rained so much that I thought about counting part of the ride as a swim.    We had a good time though.  That is why we took so long.   The course had a pretty nice hill around the 70 mile point.  It was Gap worthy.

Yes, quite epic in the wettest sense.  With better weather, would've been an excellent ride.  Talk about soggy shoes - you could hear them with each stroke there for awhile.  Still, I'm glad I stuck it out and did the full course.  LOTS of folks cut the day short for probably very good reason.  Thankfully, did not witness any accidents outside the one shortly after lead pack passed me.

There was a bad one at the beginning of the ride within the first ten miles.  A lady from the MACC club crash.  They had an ambulance and fire truck there.  They put her in the ambulance on a stretcher with her neck in a brace.  I heard later that someone passing her cut back on her and that she broke a couple of ribs.  That was before all the rain started.

Yeah, I saw that wreck too. Looked scary. Had to stop and walk my bike around all the emergency vehicles.

Funniest site of the day - about 100-200 bikers sitting under the picnic shelter at the church at the intersection where the turnoff for the 31 mile route was. It had already been raining for 20-30 minutes at that point. Why would you stop in the middle? I couldn't get any wetter and I didn't even want to think about how cold and miserable I would be if I sat around outside waiting in vain for it to stop raining.

Since I recognized her MACC cycling kit, I sent the club an email expressing my well wishes.  I got an email from her.  She is a triathlete named Kathy.

She said she broke 7 ribs on her left side but was getting around albeit with some pain.
