Unfortunately, had a slight cold which left me feeling "run-down" prior to the race, and the mild, drizzly weather didn't add any comfort.

I placed 2nd in my age group! Not sure what overall, until results are posted tonight (hopefully top 15). I was surprised at how deep the field was; 5 min. run pace/miles were not uncommon. Some were using this race as a warmup for the Columbia triathlon in MD. where Ironman Hawaii World Champion, Peter Reid, will be competing.

A few pictures of the race:

Just a thank you to everyone who participates on this message board, I've learned quite a bit from all of you, and I hope at times, you learn some tips from me as well. Thanks, everyone.

also: I tumbled over at my T2 dismount! I clipped out with my left foot, stabled myself, however since it was so wet, I slipped and tumbled right over onto my right side! A volunteer literally pulled me up so I could clip out..so..don't feel bad if this happens during training..at least it hasn't happened to you during a race!

thanks :-) i'm so new to this sport and was just happy to be out racing. There were so many "veteran" triathletes competing, hoping to work out their cobwebs before their big races that at times, it felt intimidating!

thanks red. i'm training for the buffalo marathon in a few weeks, and the long distance training certainly hindered the speed work i needed in this race, but, just happy to be out there!

Congratulations on a good race. I hope that you are talking about minutes per kilometer when you are referring to 5 minute paces!!! And your dad looks great for a person of his mature years; maybe I'll show my mom (she's 75) his picture!

I know, it was such bad timing, but hey..just like in triathlon, you have to keep going even if things don't look great, you know?
