Subject: RE: Pool lengthI swim in a 50 FOOT pool..that's right 16.67 yds!!! It's 2 miles from home and my son LOVES the day care there, so switching gyms/pools is not an option. Since I just started getting faster, I definitely get dizzy doing all those laps. I did notice though when I went with family to a 25 yd pool that I was looking for the wall way earlier than I should be. If you have a pool swim Tri scheduled, I would try and see if you could get at least 1-2 training sessions in a longer pool before your race. If no pool swim tri, then stick it out until you can OWS. As far as making training easier..I have converted everything to fit my pool. For example, I know 100's are 3 laps (6 touches), 50's are 1.5 laps (3 touches), etc. Where the fun starts is when I just want to do long swims..1 mile is 53 laps (106 touches). I would suggest measuring the pool so you know EXACTLY how long it is. I just brought my own tape measure one day. |
