I don't know why, but I obsessively follow the NHC's website each year during hurricane season.  It's not even like where I live gets affected by hurricanes.

It's funny that Renee posted this today... I just bookmarked their site this morning.  I don't know if I should be embarrassed about that, or not.

No, if you had this bookmarked it would be far more embarrassing:

http://www.mulletsgalore.com/

(no, I don't have it bookmarked you freaks. I googled it).

... and even more embarrassing would be to be featured on the site.

(would be to be?  hmmm.  not an english major).

I, too, love to follow hurricanes and have done so ever since taking fluid dynamics in college at the same time as Hurricane Fran hit Raleigh.  We actually used it as an extensive study in large-scale fluid dynamics.

Dude that looks like some really great surf

Is that you sitting in the green room on the second photo?

Better yet, did you make it? (Looks like a bit of a gas chamber but possibly makeable)

Nope that is my buddy in the "room" I'm just kickin a little spray at our friend on the backside of the top picture and yes he made it after a nasty little East Coast "spit out"...It stayed that way for about 2 hours that morning..coming in as rolling sets of about 4-5 waves per set...We thought we had it good there (The spot is refered to as Boilers or The pit) But we heard later that day at The Washroom it was even better. As for one I didn't make see photo below...That's what happens when 6'3 tries to get in the room That's what alomost always happens to my goofy foot surfin a--.

I am impervious to your sarcasm. It only feels like warm squishy hugs. :P

For some reason I was thinking of Gulf Coasters as Atlantic Coasters, too, but that is not quite right. I stand corrected!

But you're avoiding the topic. Do you have enough Cliff Bars on hand for the season? Turns out I'm out of nachos myself...

As intended, though I'm not sure how I feel about the "squishy" description.

Ordered three cases Tuesday: Blueberry Crisp, Choclate Almond, and Cookies 'n' Cream. The C'n'C is backordered but the other two will be here today.

Nachos don't last around our house, either.

CRAP!!! Kelly and I are suppose to fly down to Cozumel on Monday for 5 days of diving and debauchery.  Dean appears to have a bullseye on Coz as of this morning.  Hopefully Dean will have the courtesy of fizzling out (yea, that's gonna happen) or taking a different route.  This trip was at a perfect time also, the day after my first HIM and ended the day before I have to go back to teaching.  If we have to cancel I would not want to be a bratty kid in my class those first few days of school.

Shhooooo-doggy, it's Hurricane Dean now.

Will be interesting to see which way it wobbles/turns once it plows into Jamaica. (notFloridanotFloridanotFloridanotFlorida)

mndiver - it's not looking good for your vaca plans.

Yeah, my weather guy said this morning that Dean will intensify to Cat4 while heading nearly straight west into the Yucatan by, I think, Tuesday. Best guess, of course, anything can happen.

And by Wednesday looks like it will be, once again, gathering strength in the Gulf. Time to stock up on nachos, Bear!
