CGI Racing is a new sponsor for 2008.  They offer 4 races in 3 states.  If you are or maybe considering doing one of these races, there are plenty of race reports to read through via the links below.  The race directors, Michele and Larry, are active on the forums.  I'm sure they can help answer any questions that come up.

I did the Nj State this year and it was great. Havn't done the RR on it yet ,but I would recommend it. Planning on doing the NJ State again and also the Northeast and Black Bear.

Have raced and volunteered at the NJ State Tri the last 2 years. I'll probably go back again this year.

Please be sure to wear your hair in the same style as your avatar (what's his name...Ed Grimley or something???). Think of how it'll part the water for you!

Cool..welcome aboard! Keep an eye out for some of the training opportunities when we get closer to the race (open water swim, group runs, etc...).

Feel free to e-mail with any questions but I highly recommend using the resources on this site to answer a lot of your questions.

What are you talking about?! That's really me!

Actually, now that I lost a team challenge, I'm forced to show off my legs. No more Ed.

As a reg at CGI's thursday open water swims, I must say it is an awesome way to get comfortable in the water. My biggest fear was the swim. I was at wehonah lake every thur leading up to the 06 philly tri. I HIGHLY reccomend attending.

After doing North East a few months back, im very confident with my swim, so confident I signed up for a 70.3 in may 08. (disney)
Thanks CGI.

We start either the last week of April or the first week of May. It can be a little chilly but by the third or fourth week it's almost non-wetsuit weather.

Wanted to sign up for this last year as my 1st tri but it closed before I got the chance. Now I just have to decide whether to go Sprint or Oly in 2008 and get signed up so I am guaranteed a spot.

I did the NJ State Tri last year (my first). A great race. CGI do a super job.

Have you done Black Bear? Hear it is tough. Considering my first 1/2 IM there?

Yes, very tough. Nothing but hills. For a first HIM, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. (Sorry Larry - CGI does a great job, but the course...) Devilman is nice and flat, so is Diamondman in the Fall.

As far as Devilman is concerned, my mom always said "if you can't say something nice", well, you know the rest.

The good news is that there are plenty of port-a-potties at Devilman. The bad news is that the port-a-potties are often compared (sometimes favorably) to the lake in which the swim is held.

I did the race in the original venue (which had it's own set of problems), so I haven't had to deal with what I've heard and read (including an over abundance snakes, horrible stench, submerged stumps, stumps above the water line, a brown "thickness" to the water, etc...). It's pretty well documented so if you do a search either here or on slowtwitch.com it'll come up.

I did Devilman in '06. They may have changed venue again??? Not sure. But, yes the water was lousy. But, the bike and run were flat and easy. For a first time HIM'er, I'd still have to recommend that over an extremely hilly course.

*does the "I Registered for the NJ Oly" dance*

w00 w00!   Best race ever, even if my calves were threatening mutiny last year.  Through no fault of CGI, of course.

Congrats to CGI...not only did they run a great Black Bear race..but now they have sold out both the NJST Oly and Sprint, a full 8 weeks ahead of the race. You guys are certainly doing great things over there.

Larry/Michele: What is the expected number of participants..total and split between oly and sprint? Any thoughts on expanding the field?

Hi,

I love races very much and one of my bests is CGI Racing and there is a dream to participate and also to get first and to defeat one of my opponent and also to make a world record in it.
