Guilty.  Except I will not be climbing Mount Ventoux.  I look ridiculous in Lycra.  Janicewhokeepsmehumble calls me Lance_geezer when I head out the door in full get-up.

Well I've done that when I was 19, so does that make it a mid life crisis when I do that at 35?

I think the answer lies in how big of a pot belly I have.

Since I started riding at 18, and basically have never stopped, does it still count as a mid-life crisis?

And no, I'm not about to go out and buy a Dogma. Or any carbon bike.

My mid life crisis must have come early at 14.  I was hooked my first day working at a bike shop.

"Given the number of men aged 35-44 who are buying fancy-pants road racing machines, is this a 21st Century mid-life crisis?"

sweeeeeet... for a moment I thought they might be talking about me.

At 46 I am in the clear.

Man, I can't even do this right!

I'm not buying $10,000+ bikes and $150 cycling bibs.  I'll keep riding my $600 roadie with my $60 bibs.

I guess I sort of fall into that category.  I have all these races I want to do before I get to old and broken down to do them so I am.  It's better than getting a corvette and dating an 18 year old.... right?

I would like to point out that those are BRITISH Mamils.... it's those foreigners... not us here in America... who are having that kind of mid-life crisis. We are all good here.

Sweet, I'm finally ahead of the curve on a trend. Got my bike 2 years ago when I was 49 (sounds like midlife). Unfortunately it was only an $1100 aluminum road bike.

Seems a little healthier (and cheaper) for all involved than trading in your wife, buying a Porsche and getting hair implants, no?

Maybe we're just getting smarter.

Hmmmm, perhaps I should just start smoking and drinking lots more beer instead to buck this trend??

I fooled everyone when I bought my first Corvette at age 44.  Little did they know that I would wait until 51 to buy my first fancy road bike.

Timely.

A guy who works in another division hasn't seen me in a long time and the other day he saw me taking my bike into the station so I can do some trainer work.  "Working out there Jim?  You getting divorced?"

"Nope, just a mid-life crisis.  It was this or chasing strippers."  (Joke's on him though, if I race long distance I still get to hang out with strippers.)

I bought a flashy carbon tri bike, not a roadie. Does that still count? ;^)

I'm guilty at age 46 and 5 bikes later, maybe 6 very soon. This is my mid life crisis and I been enjoying all of it. It is what keeps my sanity in check.

Oh trust me, I think there's just as many "Wilmas" (women in lycra, middle-aged) as "Mamils" out there!  I should know, I'm one of them, but obviously we're just not as trendy yet Kiss

More power to the Mamils and Wilmas - they're getting out there, staying healthy and fit, and having fun at the same time Cool

I am not old enough to have had my midlife crisis yet. Only 28 now but, back in february is when I got back into biking...if this is my midlife crisis that means I will die at 56? Eek!

If you happen to be a man, and you are the one pictured in the pink dress with white sunglasses, then yes.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.
