This is a friendly question I just have to ask... do you people work? How is it possible that you are able to post as much as you do and retain a job? I am amazed when I log on here how many posts some of you have while (I'm assuming) your'e at work. Am I missing something? Do you not have bosses, projects and deadlines? Seriously. I must need a new job. Please tell me your secret.

It's called multi-tasking.  Only special people like myself can be successful at it!

Total time spent online:21 days, 12 hours and 35 minutes

I feel like I've been slacking lately.  I am trying to up my post count in places other than COJ.  I don't want to be "that guy," although I think I already am...

Bosses?  Deadlines?  Projects?  First, I have mastered the art of delegation.  I love delegation.  Second, when you find out you are being laid off in 6 months anyway, the drive really isn't there.

I don't really post that much...Janelle logs in under my name a lot and boosts my post total. And she's smarter too, so all the intelligent things that I've said have really come from her!

I am the master of minimizing the screen when someone walks in my office. I have the luxury of having a big office and my computer is angled so that when someone walks in they can't see what I'm doing. When its my boss or my other ****** boss, I minimize, then bring up our corporate system.

I am going to be spending less time on here though. I don't like being behind in work and I need to use some BT time to look for other jobs too.

I have a job where there are XXXX things expected of me and I do those things in a timely and efficient manner because I am good at what I do.  I also have a boss who treats me like a grown up and does not stand over my shoulder watching every move I make.  So when I have some free time where nothing is sitting in front of me, I use it as I like.

You also need to "auto hide" your task bar so they can't see what you have minimized!

Uh first I am the boss, so I am good at delegating stuff that would take time away from playing with the computer.

Second, my companies internet fire wall blocks all pornography so there is really no where else to go to waste time.

I have my good days and days I never get on here.

Today is a good day....

Moved from high pressure, lots to do, never bored job to one that's often like running in jello, about four months ago. At least I get to chat with y'all wonderful people and go home at 5!

I am glad you asked this question, Tri To Catch Me. I've been wondering the same thing.

I work for a company in which there is always the threat of 'Big Brother' monitoring my computer use, therefore, I don't go on BT. I also work for a company that encourages an 'Open work environment,' (which is a fancy way of saying, "We don't have room for everyone."). So, you don't get an office at my company unless you make like 500K + a year, and you have to at least be making six figures to get a cubicle. So, for the rest of us, while we may have jobs of high responsibility, are stuck sitting at slats...long rows of desks, side by side. So, whatever I do on the computer is fair game for anyone to see as they walk by. I am in a fairly high-traffic area, so I am guessing at least one or two people a minute walk by my desk and would probably glance at my screen. Therefore, no BT for me at work. Plus, I am really busy at work anyway.

After working all day, then working out, eating dinner, etc., I don't ever get on BT until about 9 p.m. or so. I miss out on so many good conversations

It's called slacking. Duh.

How do I get away with it? I meet my revenue expectations. I'm a headhunter so my time is really my own and my boss lets me goof off because I also do other things that are outside the scope of my job (training new recruiters, database stuff, tweaking our contact management database). I've been on the 'net since '96 so hopping around from work to play takes little thought. As someone mentioned, it's called multitasking.

Tabbed browsing. Plus my particular career choice emphasizes independence and self-discipline without direct oversight. I'm kinda my own boss.

Y'know- sounds like you are skilled/competent/good at what you do- and work in a stifling environment- thought about getting a new job???

However, being in a similar environment-(LOL)I understand what you are saying-recently I have ventured onto BT at work a few times when able- but not really comfortable doing so- like you I mostly have to surf BT on "off" time.....

I always have the BT page loaded when I am online, whether I am at work or at home. Since I am at work about 11 hrs a day, 5 days a week, I guess I spend at least 55 hrs a week on BT. Of course, I don't/can't spend 11hrs posting/reading BT when I am at work. Haven't busted by my boss, so I guess I haven't done anything wrong yet.

I would say seventy percent of my time online here is at work. Then again I am a lazy fireman.
