Hi, I am brand new to the whole triathlon world. My goal is to train for a 1/2 sprint to be completed in the spring of next year- so I am a beginner. At this point I could almost complete the bike portion
(5.5 miles
) & the run
(1.5 miles
), but I need major work in the swim area - I have never done open swim & I am a very weak swimmer to start with. I have signed up for a swim class that will start in a few weeks, so hopefully this will help me. And I will have lots of time to practice.
I did a 5 mile bike ride two weeks ago & got the bright idea that I would just get off my bike and start to run the 1.5 miles.
(I can do both seperately, but back to back - what a comedy show.
) It took me almost 2 blocks of walking before I was able to run - so I will need to work on this
(my knees wouldn't raise up for me to run
). Any suggestions?? I haven't even thought about going from the swim to the bike - that will be a whole other comedy show.
I noticed that you had posted running opportunities. Is this open to anyone? I live about a mile from the Princeton Club, in New Berlin. Do you really start to run at 4am??? WOW that is incredible, that is great dedication. Since I am a beginner, I can only run about 1.5 miles and then walk & maybe run some more.
(But hey, everyone has to start somewhere, right?
) If this is open to anyone, maybe when I can run further distances I might see you.
(I will have to bring a flashlight for the 4am'ers
)
Do you know of anyone else that is just starting to train for their first tri?
Thanks for your help, Heather
