Subject: RE: What to expect for first INOn the bike, you should expect water & Gatorade Endurance every 10 miles. There will should also be Powergels & bananas available. On the run, you get all that and more (coke, chicken broth, some other stuff ) every mile. Your bike should have whatever you need to change a flat. Probably twice. And then whatever you need for nutrition/hydration that isn't available on the course. I recommend training at least with water & GE and availing yourself of the aid stations. You can then carry your own gels/bars or "feed" bottle of nutrition if you like. You really shouldn't need more than 2 bottles on your bike. Forget about practicing transitions for an IM. It's not necessary because it's not about speed. Just know what you need and be efficient. Special Needs is offered at the half-way point on each of the bike and the run. You could have a "refill" of your personal nutrition. Maybe some extra clothes for the run. Or anything else you think would be useful. I never used mine. |
