Subject: A legend is gone.

Yesterday in Statesboro, GA, Erk Russell passed away. Coach Russell founded the Georgia Southern football program and led it to four NCAA 1-AA championships in his tenure, the first just four years after the inception of the program. He was a compassionate motivator who was loved long after he retired. He also spent 17 years prior as the defensive coordinator at the University of Georgia. It's a sad day.

I lived in Hinesville back in the  early 90s.  Watching Georgia Southern football was great.  Erk had that old t-shirt thing going.

No kidding? My wife worked at the Coastal Courier in Hinesville in the early '90s. It's where we met...
