Sunny
Total Time = 1h 52m 53s
Overall Rank = 326/595
Age Group = 55-59
Age Group Rank = 18/29
Pre-race routine:

Packet pick up Friday night and off to Redmans for a little soul food. Mike was pick up his packet except for that he forgot is wallet. I think was that was just I would buy dinner. Got there early, set up and chit chatted and waited around. Watched Amanda go. Couldn't spot her in the pack.
Event warmup:

Treading water in open water start.
Swim
  • 12m 48s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 43s / 100 meters
Comments:

Good swim started right and picked up a guy with same pace and drafted for full half of the course. Then turn into the shallow section with a bit of weeds in it. Picked up the wave ahead of use. Pink caps all over the place. Got out without Jim going over the top of me. Felt good and ran into transition.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Transition 1
  • 02m 32s
Comments:

I hope that it was faster but I guess it wasn't. Don't know where the time went.
Bike
  • 57m 33s
  • 16.1 miles
  • 16.79 mile/hr
Comments:

Crowded start path out to road. Passed by stick people and then started to catch slower bikes. People hug right when you can. I don't know how many I passed right. Wasn't going to educate. We had to negotiate an accident 4 miles out. Large Honda bike in ditch and car stopped. Not sure what it was. Some Headwind going out which was the up hill segment of course. Slid in nice. Tried getting my feet out of my shoes but never practice that. Did take them off when I got off and carried the. Much easier to run.
What would you do differently?:

Work at getting feet out off shoes.
Transition 2
  • 03m 38s
Comments:

I can't believe I could get a pizza that fast or transition that slow. Needed to put a little glide on the pits. That took a little time.
What would you do differently?:

Try to find a top that won't chaff the pits in the wet suit.
Run
  • 36m 22s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

Still ahead of Mike gotta keep it going. It was a run/walk. Still to fat to run well. Pass Mike going out with a quarter mile lead. Held it with a minute to spare.

Got my Metal/bottle opener from Madi.
What would you do differently?:

Shine splint on left side.
Post race
Warm down:

Met up with Amanda and got some water and Mike was in right behind me.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

30 extra pounds.

Event comments:

Great race. Puts any other to shame. Need to do just a little to change up food.
