Comments: Broke my helmet putting it on at the start(plastic internal support thingee) and hoped nobody "in charge" noticed. Thought about stopping at the course side Wal-mart and picking up a cheap replacement, but didn't want to get any further behind the pack. Made an effort to pace myself...with it being a downhill course it was tempting to open it up early. Had some mechanical problems at about mile 25, but nothing too significant; gotta get that chain replaced. Post race
Warm down: slowed into the finish and did some stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Had some minor mechanical issues. Newer, lighter bike might help...maybe next season. Definately lost time waiting in line for the porta-johnny. Event comments: Hope to do it again next year...maybe the entire Century. The Mrs. finished ahead of me by a couple of minutes; said it was the new bike, but I advised her the bike didn't peddle itself. Last updated: 2004-07-25 12:00 AM

Drove up to Durango the day before. Had dinner at Carver's and thought about my old college days and how good the Carver's beer is. Decided I didn't need a beer before the event and took a growler of the house rootbeer brew and some bagels to go. Went back to the room and cleaned up the bikes.
Light stretching. As this was a tour as opposed to a race, I started slow until warmed up.
