Comments: This was a hot race. Had it been any warmer or any more humid, I'm not sure I would've been able to take it. The water stations were more or less available at mile intervals, and about a quarter of the way through I realized that I would have to do about half a cup of water in my mouth, half on my head. I felt like I was struggling against overheating...might've slowed me down a little, but overall I pushed through, stayed wet, and kept going. What would you do differently?: Once again, a little bit of a late start and no early crowd to slow me down probably resulted in running my first few miles a little too fast as I attempted to "catch up" with the crowd, when I really didn't need to. Post race
Warm down: Gatorade, a banana, lots of stretching...also ran underneath an open fire hydrant. So, so good. Event comments: Course spent a lot of time on open roadways...little to no shade. Last updated: 2004-07-26 12:00 AM

Let's see -- what did I have? Some shredded wheat in low-fat milk and a banana, followed by an hour-long ride up to the Bronx while slowly sipping water. The ride was calming. The fact that I was late was not.
Mostly my half-speed trot to a completely empty start line. I gotta start making it on time to these things.
