Swim
Comments: The worst experience in my life. I had never swam continuously for more than 100m before and it was just ugly. Gulped so much water, trouble breathing, dizzy from the waves. Considered quitting at about 200m. blah. What would you do differently?: Learn to swim. Transition 1
Comments: So dizzy from the swim I sat down for a good 2 mins trying to gain composure. I ended up throwing up my breakfast into my towel. What would you do differently?: learn to swim Bike
Comments: Actually quite please with the bike. Passed a lot of people, kept a good pace. And I was on a mountain bike! What would you do differently?: Get a road/triathlon bike. Transition 2
Comments: took about 4 tries to get the bike to stay. Because I am so tall the rack was about the same height as my seat so I was more leaning it than racking it. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: Legs felt like 1000lbs. I just couldn't seem to turn them over. Ended up walking about half of the time. Met Helen in the last KM of the race who dragged me along with her to the end. She saved my life as far as I am concerned! What would you do differently?: practice bricks more. Post race
Warm down: close to passed out What limited your ability to perform faster: swimming ability. overall fitness. Event comments: I was not ready for a triathlon. 5 months ago I couldn't run 2km, or swim 50m. I am going to do it again next year with a vengeance though and kick the water's ass. :D Last updated: 2007-03-05 12:00 AM

Forgot my helmet and had to have someone bring it to me. Heart was beating a million BPM as it didn't show up until 15mins before race start!
