Subject: Aug 22 -23 IM Training in Elkhart Lake area

Well, Rich and Phil survived the Week 6 big day, Now week 3 is closing in.

I was wondering who is interested in training these days.  Sat Aug 22 or Sun Aug 23

I am going out one day, and Jeanne the other.  Both days will start around 6 am with a 4100 yd swim, followed by a 6 hour ride ( we can do 2 or 3 loops in order to resupply teh rides), and capped with a 3-5 mile run.

The SWIM is in Elkhart Lake - a clear beautiful lake.  If you need to cut some distance to keep up with the crowd, it is possible.

The BIKE - can be as hilly as you want, or just rolling along - there is no such thing as flat in the Kettle Moraine.

The RUN - can be short and sweet - just to test the legs and nutrition.

Let me know if you are interested in those days.

I may be interested in this... on the swim, can I cut out ALL the bays? and maybe go out to the first bouy and turn around?  I'd like the bike to be all downhill if possible. If we are also still trying to figure out the run path, can we just run to the tiki bar?... yep I think that would be a good day...

I had it planned out last week to come out, but wifey decided to head to her parents with the kids, but leave the dog behind.  I'll have to hang closeby now because of that. *fume*

Yep.  Taz (our dog) hasn't been socially introduced, other than to a couple of neighbors.  I would get extremely worried about him with his skittishness.  He gets VERY protective of his chewbone and playtoy ball.  Taz bit a neighbor kid that came by (unannounced and unattended) sometime ago.  I didn't see it happen since my back was turned, but I believe the kid just walked over to Taz with his hand out, and since Taz didn't know the kid, thought the kid was probably going to take the bone, got protective and bit the kid.  Not a good scene.

You're slow?  I'm the slowest and have carpy eyesight without my glasses on.  He will come look for you - he's a pretty good at that.  Just watch out for the dang zebra mussels so you don't get sliced.  You'll enjoy it!

maybe?  but I may not be training with you, Jeanne could be your feet.  Also, there are ways to cut off distance from the whole package and keep everyone relatively close

but I am probably going to have a canoe there for that day.  Craig is invited also.  i would enjoy the company.

and what day is it chris, the 22nd?

Either day - Jeanne will go one day and me the other.  I assume my group will travel a bit farther and faster - bike about 100 miles in under 6 hours and run 5-7 miles.  Jeanne will probably go 16 mph ball park for 6hrs and run 3-5 miles.  Both days are open and we have not set either date for either group.  Just let us know what you are thinking

So for those waiting the final day

Sat - Jeanne, Sandi , Travis

probably a 60-70 min swim , ~16mph bike for around 5.5 - 6 h, then a 3-5 mile run

SUN - Chris

70 min swim, 6 hr ride ~17-18+ mph, and a 4-7 mile run

I will be out in a canoe SAT morning to watch swimmers, there will be no such aid on Sun

Let me know who is in when

I'm not doing the Ironman. Currently I'm training for a 5K. But I still feel like training for 8 hours on Saturday. Can I join?

Oh wait, hold up. Are all of these workouts back to back to back? Or can I have a minute between the swim and bike?
