Subject: RE: Anyone doing the Flower Mound LAC Tri Oct 16th?I'll be there! The LAC Tri this past spring was actually my first triathlon, so I'm interested how my times have changed over the year for the same course. Plus, I have a friend at work who will be running his first tri there, so I'm going for moral support, too.
The natatorium is nice. There are bleachers for the spectators, and indoor restroom facilities. There is a separate diving pool that can be used for warming up even after the race is underway.
The ride course is flat, with a route that winds through some neighborhoods. Very little traffic. The only ding was that there is one point where it crosses a busy road. There were police managing the intersection, but the officer did stop the cycling traffic occasionally to let traffic pass. I got lucky and came up while he was letting a group of cyclists through, so I never had to stop.
The run course is nice. (also flat ) The first half was along a tree-shaded greenbelt , so it was cool and pleasant. A little after the turnaround, the course shifted to nieghborhood sidewalks. Post-race, there were bagels and bananas, and also the Jamba Juice guys had a stand set up. (Coupons in race packet for participants. ) Can't say whether it will be that way this time, but it wasn't bad for a smaller race.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there. |
