I wanted to do it but I had to decide between the race or buying a wetsuit. I can't do both. The suit won.

I am doing the OLY as a relay: my 12 year old daughter is doing the run and my college roommate's 16 year old son is doing the swim, me - biking! So I am cheating, but doing the race

Heck yes you've earned it! 30 is huge!

(I do say that reluctantly as I also hit the big 3-0 this year).

Anyone up for a ride this Saturday at Sleepy Hollow?

I finally got my shoes back and most of this whole house ordeal is finished so no more canceling my workouts!

How is Lake Ovid? I assume the water temp is nice- mid 70's or so?
This my first time running a race in that area and my first Lansing Legislator, but I am really looking forward to this race.
Any tips from locals??

Very warm, somewhat weedy, I swim there weekly.  Bike course is gentle rollers and I'm not sure what the run course is yet.

I did this race two years ago and it the location was great, yet the race was a cluster. They should have that figured out by now.  I will be there doing the du. See you there!

Hey Trixie, I think I caught a glimps of you around transition before the race Saturday, sorry I didn't get a chance to introduce myself.

On the subject of Lansing Legislature.  If anyone is puting a relay team together and needs a swimmer.  I would be interested.  I'm a solid sub 30 min 1500m swimmer.

Nightime temps are dropping --I may just be able to use my crutch, er I mean my wetsuit and do the OLY. Yippee! (I gotta get my money out of the suit --return on my investment).

Trixie, I'll confirm on here about Wed. eve.

Does anyone else giggle a little bit when they hear financial references in everyday life?  ROI!

I am bringing the suit, but hoping that I don't have to wear it.  I am now way more comfortable swimming nekkid.  You know... without the suit I mean!

It was wetsuit legal last year, but only because we got a pre-race thunderstorm that dropped about an inch and a half of rain.  Otherwise, it would not have been legal.  Its a warm, shallow lake.

I was at the Lake on Tuesday night for a swim and just about overheated after 20 minutes. 3d says it is 78-80 but I think it is warmer than that. The weeds are also wonderful - I see myself coming out of the water looking like a seaweed wrap.

Did everyone else get the email from 3d?  As for the wetsuit:

"At this time we are in No Wetsuit status. ??? Water temp is 78-80 with very hot temps forecasted this week.  Unless we get a few cold nights here this will stand.  This was the case the last two years and the last three nights cooled the lake so still be prepared to use them.  It is a shallow no wake lake so it can cool quickly."

If anyone did not get the email, let me know and I'll post it or pm it to you.
