Subject: Old School Remedy/Prescriptions

A chat with another BT brought up this topic.

What remedies did you use on your kids OR your parents tell you they used on you and was it a Doctor recommendation to do so?

My parents say that when I was maybe 6 months old it was nearly 24/7 playtime and I didn't want to sleep.  The Doc told them to give me a teaspoon of Southern Comfort with a little sugar and that would put me out.

They joke that I liked it too much and didn't sleep so they drank the bottle and slept fine.

I'm trying to imagine the lawsuit of a doctor today told parents to do that.  Yet NyQuil is okay and has about the same effect.

So, what stories Ya'll got?

My grandparents called it a "Hot Toddy"  It was whiskey and honey mixed together.

Also for an ear infection.....blowing cig smoke in the ears and it would sooth the pain?
