Looking at the results from the heats.  No U.S. American runner made it .  Nicole Teter dnf..

Why does the USA have a hard time in this event?

wow that is surprising!  even more surprising Tamsyn qualified too.   We normally have a pretty average showing in athletics.

1:59:6 pretty decent first round time....   USA mid distance sucks.      800 can be such a tactical race going into the finals.....Better be strong and have a fast kick....(Bring back Dave Wottle)  ? Why don't coaches teach that ?

because it seems a lot of coaches in the US aren't realizing how tactical it is.  seems like it's still thought of as a "run" while it's becoming more of a sprint.  my sister runs the 800 and always feels like she'd be better if the coaches let them do more sprint training for it. in high school, a lot of coaches would train girls who were distance runners down to the 800 instead of getting maybe some of the 400m runners to train up for it.  i'm sure it's different on a collage/professional level.  but so many of these runners get their starts with high school, probably would be good to start there to reach full potential.
