Subject: Zipp Clincher psi question

I'm looking into getting some zipp 808 clincher wheels but noticed that in the spec it says that the max tire pressure is 125psi.

Isn't this a little low for a set of race wheels?

yeah, Zipp probably doesn't know about that - better slip them an email and make some suggestions

You're maybe comparing clincher tires to tubulars - the max pressure would be dictated moreso by the tire (manufacturer's recommendation) than by the wheel itself, I would think.

I've raced with Michelin pro2race tires up to 140 but other than a harsher ride, had no difference in my speed when pumped to 115-120psi.

Pumping up ANY tire over 125psi is likely to make your bike slower on most normal roads.  If you ride on track-like surfaces, pump up the psi.  Otherwise 110-120 covers it for most riders in most conditions.
