In the old days when Lance was the Patrone (think that was the title-  meaning BOSS of the Peloton).    Which I think either Contador or Sastre (since they were the most recent winners) should have organized the chase of the lead Colombia group at some point.

Or something like that.....interesting stuff though.

Oh the irony...

No other riders have confirmed this so it may well just be one rider trying to place the blame on someone else.

Now, if it had been Levi who had caused the split we would have an interesting story.

After the stage Frenchman Christophe Le Mevel claimed it was Contador's failure to stick to the wheel in front of him which caused the split with around 30km to go.

"When the split happened I was right on (behind) Contador's wheel," said the Francaise des Jeux rider.

"If it's true there were 29 guys in front he must have been 30th and I was 31st. It was him who caused the split."


So if Contador couldn't close the gap, why didn't Le Mevel? (No reply needed!)

Maybe Contador should blame Le Mevel for not helping him to close it. (Again, no reply needed!)

I do think that some of the others (not only Contador, and not only GC contenders) should have been paying closer attention. But then again, this is the TdF, and anything can happen....

(I *heart* the TdF.)
