tire ruined?

Was out on a ride yesterday going down a long (5 mile) descent and my front tire blew out while going around a curve. I was going about 30mph when it happen and i came to a stop as quickly as i could. Since it was during the turn the tire "wrapped" around the rim and it got a little torn up right above the bead all the way around the tire. There is no damage on the inside of the tire (holes, etc) from the scrapes but the outside is questionable. LBS says tire is trashed, what do you guys think? would you keep riding it or just replace it and be safe? (Tire is a Vittoria Rubino Pro Slick)
