Subject: Race Wheels on Roof Rack?
Is it safe to transport my tri bike with carbon race wheels on a roof rack? Rack is one that holds fork in front, then strap around the rear wheel. Wheels are old-style HED Cx, where the carbon is part of the structure. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

I do this all of the time with my road bike. I run 50mm deep carbon wheels on it and put up on the roof rack at least once a week these days.

Unless I cannot manage it, race wheels (and bike) always travel inside the vehicle.  Although there are many people who will travel with race wheels on a roof rack with no problems, I prefer not to take the chance.

ALthough I have a hitch mount, I always take the race wheels inside the car, leave the training wheels on
