Subject: Transferring Race Signup
So I learned I am out for the season (boo), I have several races I signed up for and would like to at least afford someone else the chance to race in my place since the races fill up. 

Should I call the RD and let them know that I can't race and ask if I can transfer my spot to someone else (since I signed up through Active I can't get my money back, which is fine since these are all charity races anyhow)? Or is there a better way to go about it?  thanks.

Yeah, I'd call or e-mail them.  I had similar issues, had to back out of 3 races.  Each race will have their own policy, so it may be different for each.  For example, I was able to transfer one triathlon per their established rules.  Another aquathlon said they don't do refunds or transfers but would give me 50% off next year.  The third said they had a "stric" no transfer/refund policy but in my case they'd make an exception and defer entry to next year

RD would be the place to start. May be possible (in recurring races) that he will let you defer until next year. Regardless, every race is different and only the specific RD will be able to tell you the policy and possiblilty of transfer. At a minimum you can let him know that the slot won't be filled so that he can re-sell it.
