I just had to post this story--made me start looking around on my training rides!

My mother routinely rides her bike down at the Jersey shore, and goes a good 30-40 miles each time she sets out.  The beach house is about 3 blocks back from a strip of bars along the beach, and we are always joking about finding money on the ground from the night before's bar-hoppers.

Well wouldn't you know it? On one of her rides, she saw a crumpled up dollar bill and debated actually stopping to pick it up...but she did, and when she unfolded it, turns out someone dropped a hundred dollar bill right outside one of the bars on the street.

It certainly made her weekend!

Anyone else have good finds while on a ride?

Nice.

I've found money while walking a lot. Recently I was riding home with 4 other people and 2 people were in the front and 3 people including me were trailing behind. We were on the way home from a race, so it was a social ride and we were just chatting. The 2 up front were probably about 100m ahead. Then we came up to them stopped. We though they had dropped something because they were picking things off of the ground. It turns out that there were 7 $20 bills and they were picking them up.

D'oh. We should have been riding upfront.

I always love these, what I found on my runs/rides. Well, this weekend, I had a what I lost on my ride. I had done about 50 minutes and was turning around. Instead of just reaching back in my pack and getting a gel and continuing on, I got off my bike and took it out. There are benches and trash cans. I ate it, drank a little and threw it in the trash can. Got on my bike and rode for about 8 miles when some guy comes by me and says, "I saw your cell phone and some cash fall out at the top of the hill on that bump." I went back to the hill (WO&D Trail) and couldn't find it. I checked my bag and realized, cell phone, drivers license, debit card and $2 was lost. 5 minutes and it was nowhere to be found. Sucks getting all that stuff replaced. Luckily a nice rider (with aerobars) let me borrow her IPhone and I was able to call the wife to bring my spare keys.

So the guy sees your phone/cash fall out of your bag, but doesn't pick it up or even yell at you. Instead, some eight miles later, he decides to tell you about it??? He's either lazy or now owns a new cell phone. Or possibly both.
