Subject: Change of shoes for HIM?
Howdy
I have been doing sprints and OLY distances the last 3 years. I am preparing for my first HIM in a few weeks. When I race the triathlons I have been using racing flats with socks with no issues. I train in a heavier new balance shoe (992). I have run a marathon in the training shoes with no issues. I have never run more than 6.2 in the racing flats. I am looking for experiences with longer distance of the HIM- run the race in the training shoe or try it with the racing flat (experience says good at least to 6.2 miles)

I've done all my HIMs in lighter weight shoes (Saucony Fastwitch and Zoot tri shoes).  Never had any real issues.  But I'm also a very neutral runner and have pretty decent form.  I've run stand alone marathons in lighter weight shoes.

I did my last HIM in K-Swiss Konas which are very light for me.  I train and run longer distances in a stability shoe, but wanted something lighter for the race.  It work great, but I never would have done it if I hadn't put in a couple of long run with the K-Swiss.

I use the fast twitch as the racing shoe.
