Sunny
Total Time = 2h 35m 14s
Overall Rank = 558/1877
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 113/278
Pre-race routine:

woke up, had powerbar harvest for breakfast, got dressed in race clothes, filled water bottles, mixed accelerade.
Event warmup:

didn't warm up at all...walked from T1 to race start (1 mi)
Swim
  • 21m 36s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 26s / 100 meters
Comments:

besides glowing when i got out of the hudson, the swim was short. started getting nervous 5 mins into the swim, and sang Dio's Holy Diver to myself and calmed right down. nothing like a little metal music to help you through a race!! i will have to remember that mental trick.
What would you do differently?:

practice sighting a little more. try to learn how to draft.
Transition 1
  • 04m 3s
Comments:

i ran with my shoes bc T1 was carpeted and there was a slight downhill with a sharp uphill to get onto the road proper. was a great idea bc no one raced until after the uphill and i was already clipped in.
What would you do differently?:

maybe put helmet on when getting wetsuit off.
Bike
  • 1h 14m 43s
  • 40 kms
  • 32.12 km/hr
Comments:

felt good on the bike. got tired the last few miles, butt got sore towards the end, stayed in aero postion up the hills with no problems.
What would you do differently?:

i eased up on the pressure too early from the end of the bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

i took it slow in T2, kneeled down to put my shoes on to stretch my hammies, walked out of T2 and it really helped start the run w/o feeling too stiff.
What would you do differently?:

unstrap helmet before racking the bike on the run in.
Run
  • 53m 2s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 18s  min/km
Comments:

i stopped at 4 out of the 5 water stations to give my legs a break. i was really slow on the run.
What would you do differently?:

work on cadence and moving feet faster. would like to avg. 8/mile instead of 8:51/mi
Post race
Warm down:

the best yet. i walked through central park back to the hotel at 46th st pushing the double jogging stroller. also stretched immediately after race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

run experience, race distance experience.

Event comments:

this race was run extremly well. didn't lack for anything except a good goodie bag.

You'll have to share some of your T1 tips because your time was very fast for the course. Your bike split was equally impressive.

Great race.
