I'm certain I had read a thread here on when we can hit the lakes for OWSwimming but when I looked back I couldn't find it.

I was curious to know about when it will be possible to start swimming in the spring.  I want to buy a wetsuit and try it out plus I am aiming for the Wine Capital of Canada Olympic event on June 17th.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

I have seen people swimming in Okanagan lake as early as April but you wouldn't catch me in it that early. However most years, by mid May it's swimable, although it may still be around 13 - 15 deg.

I'm definitely not into polar bear swimming either.  Just the thought makes me shiver.

June would be the earliest for me but I'm a wuss.  I don't swim in it until July.

For the last years, I swam in Tucelnuit lake the weekend before the race and it's usually warmer than Okanagan Lake. It won't be so bad now that they've moved the race to June tho.
