Total Time = 1h 57m 45s
Overall Rank = 15/36
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Had some cereal for breakfast. drank some Gatorade. nothing special here. Got out to the site and set up my Transition area.
Event warmup:

None. a little streaching.
Swim
  • 10h 04m
  • 440 yards
  • 2h 17m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim went ok. It was very windy and the waves were huge. I had to side stroke most of the way out because of the waves. On the way back I was able to get some rythem and freestyle the entire way.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, I maybe need to learn how to swim in those conditions. However, I doubt that I'll have a chance to train like that.
Transition 1
  • 04m 16s
Comments:

Not a very good time here, but overall didn't try to rush through it. Suit got stuck on my timing chip
What would you do differently?:

practice T1 transition
Bike
  • 1h 16m 35s
  • 22.7 miles
  • 17.78 mile/hr
Comments:

Kept a good pace. The wind was a factor for me. Seems I would get passed more coming into a headwind. With the wind I ended up passing people that just passed me. Maybe I'm not very areodynamic.......
What would you do differently?:

Learn how to go faster into a headwind.
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

Nothing special here. You had to run about 100 yards from where you got off the bike. to get to the racks
What would you do differently?:

Maybe learn how to get out of the shoes on the bike
Run
  • 25m 28s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was ok. My quads were really sore at this point. Felt like I was moving really slow. I was surprised that my time was around 25 minute. Ran teh entire course, but had to push myself as I want to walk a few times. tougher then I had expected.
What would you do differently?:

lose some weight!!! I think if I can drop some weight me runs will be easier and faster
Post race
Warm down:

just streached and ate some post race food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

weight. I'm 205 now. I would like to get down to at least 185 by the end of the year.

Event comments:

Great race. This was the first year they had this race and I thought it was very well organized. I would recommend that anyone that can make next year, do so. it's a very scenic and challanging course.

Dave Scott and Heather Gollnick were there racing and giving little seminars.

good job! nice race report. maybe I'll put it on my calander next year.
Delavan got cancelled due to "lack of anticipated participation, and safety issues" according to an email I received. So I signed up for Pleasant Prarie in Aug.

Thanks guys,

It was a fun race.

Don, I've heard that the Plesant Prarie race is very good. Very well organized. I'm doing the Waupaca Sprint the following week, so I doubt I can make that one. Still need to find a good tri for the month of July. Any suggestions?
