I don't use them for prevention and I think that is not their most effective use, although certainly some athletes do wear them routinely for training and competition. As the previous poster said, it's probably more useful to take a look at your training--how quickly you're increasing mileage, surfaces you're training on (it might help to do some running on softer surfaces if you can find some safe ones ), shoes, strength, and flexibility. I do find compression socks useful sometimes for recovery--especially after a long run or longer race such as a marathon, half-marathon, or iron-distance triathlon, and for extended car or plane trips, especially if soon after an event. |
